Capture/Replay Compute Tools Engineer Internship

The Role 

Packet Tools are a suite of tools that is used throughout AMD’s graphics organization to capture, replay, and debug workloads at a low level. They are used from early hardware design to pre-silicon bring up to post-silicon release and are essential to our company’s success.

 

The role involves debugging and fixing critical bugs reported by users, implementing new features, and supporting our users.

 

The Candidate

As a GPU tools engineer, you will work in a hardware/software environment to craft tools supporting the entire graphics pipeline, the complete software/hardware stack, and the development of the next generation of AMD products. The ideal candidate is a software designer and engineer who is proficient in C++, and familiar with GPU hardware architecture. Knowledge of the hardware and the efficient use of discrete GPUs, APUs, and mobile devices is an advantage. The candidate will work in a team environment on a variety of tasks, so teamwork and drive are essential.


Key Responsibilities

  • As a team member, contribute to the design and development of a suite of software tools supporting the capture, editing, and replay of low-level GPU programming/stimulus.
  • As a team member, contribute to the integration of the tools with the larger software stacks used for both capture and playback in both pre- and post-silicon environments.
  • As a team member, identify and contribute to the solutions of functional and performance problems within the suite of tools.
  • As a team member, document and improve the documentation of the tool suite within the code itself, as well as external documentation.
  • As a team member, be a developer, leader, and owner of the tool suite.

 

Preferred Experience

  • Proficiency in C++ and Cmake
  • Experience with Linux GPU/compute hardware/software architectures (ROCm, OpenCL, CUDA)
  • Experience with modeling and simulation tools is a plus
  • Experience with GPU drivers and/or compilers is a plus
  • Experience of D3D, Vulcan and OpenGL graphics applications is a plus
  • Experience of OpenCL/CUDA/ROCm development is a plus

 

Academic Credentials

We are looking for Bachelors, Masters, or PhD candidates, with skills and experience in the above mentioned areas.
