RF System Validation Engineer

The successful candidate will play a key role in AMD’s Wireless IP team to design, test and bring high quality wireless ICs to production.

 

This role is based on Ultra High-speed wireless technology not Antenna RF.

 

Job Description

  • The designer will be part of a multi-functional product development team.  
  • Responsible for post-silicon characterization of mmWave/RF IC with focus on IC functionality, performance and robustness. 
  • Responsible for test plan development, test platform development, automation development, test execution and test report generation.
  • Work closely with design/production/customer teams to investigate and debug issues. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on RF substrate/PCB design.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on production-related tasks such as wafer sort testing and correlation to bench measurement, reliability testing, ESD testing and emission testing.

 

 

Job Requirement

 

  • BSEE or MSEE with solid RF/mmWave knowledge and fundamentals.
  • Able to comprehend RF transceiver system requirements and translate it to test plan.
  • Deep understanding of mmWave phase array transceivers architecture and their impairments, impedance matching, transmission lines and isolation. 
  • Direct hands-on experience and knowledge of RF/mmWave lab test measurement methodologies and equipment, wideband (1GHz signal bandwidth) and high frequency (60GHz) test techniques.
  • Experience with RF/mmWave test platforms such as probe station, 60GHz connectorized test setup, phase array over-the-air (OTA) test setup.
  • Familiar with matlab/python scripting.
  • Experience in mmWave substrate/PCB design.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, good communication skills and a strong team player.
  • Experience in bringing RF/mmWave consumer IC to production.
  • Local and international travel may be required.
