MTS Firmware Engineer

 

The Role:

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a growing team passionate about firmware that is important to all of AMD’s product lines spanning from server to semi-custom ASICs. This team is also responsible for firmware transformation initiatives to propel the organization to the next level. As member of the Firmware Engineering Team you will be part of the development group supporting both pre and post silicon environments. The Person:

To be successful in this role, you will have strong firmware development background and outstanding technical knowledge, complemented with problem solving and organization skills, communication and presentation skills. Hardware experience and knowledge is a strong asset in this deeply embedded application. You have outstanding people leadership skills to lead, empower, and guide elite engineers working in fast-paced, matrixed, global environment.

 

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Provide firmware ownership for high bandwidth peripheral IO busses such as PCIe Gen5 and USB4.
  • Engage as a teammate and work closely with multi-functional teams such as BIOS, power mangement, architecture, design and verification on delivery of integrated firmware solutions.
  • Develop low level firmware for embedded systems in an RTOS environment.
  • Support pre- and post– silicon as well as production cycle efforts
  • Develop and support full design cycle of embedded firmware solutions including pre-si, post-si and production
  • Specialist in C, strong in C++ or Scripting languages.
  • Knowledge of ASIC architecture and digital design/flow concepts.
  • Hands on experience with end-to-end Firmware from pre to post-silicon and production cycle.
  • Demonstrated proficiencies with firmware lab debug, triaging and implementation of bug fixes for silicon bring-up, through production.
  • Understanding of hardware and software system integration.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with northbridge architecture, hardware security and encryption.
  • Strong analytical, debug, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of verification flows including System Verilog, UVM and Emulation.
  • Experience with FW integration testing and debug in pre and post silicon.
  • Working knowledge of UNIX, Linux, Windows

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Well versed in software engineering practices.
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines with minimal direction.
  • 8+ years device driver or embedded firmware development experience
  • Excellent verbal communication and written, presentation skills.

 

Educational Credentials:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering/Engineering Science or Computer Science.
