Staff Research Engineer, Office of the CTO

 

The Role:

You will be a member of the CTO Office in the Adaptive & Embedded Computing Group (AECG) of AMD.  The CTO Office is concerned with innovation, differentiation, and the de-risking of technology.  You will be part of the Distributed Computing research group, which has technical focuses that span both communication and computation aspects across data center, high-end computing and edge computing.  As a researcher, you will be involved in seeding new market opportunities, and winning the mindshare of industrial and academic communities.

 

The Person:

We are searching for a person who is an active researcher with an established international reputation, who will make technical contributions to projects that deliver value for AMD.  These contributions will span hardware, software, and applications, using a variety of languages, methodologies, and tools.  A flexible approach to research topics is important, since AMD adopts a very agile approach to rapidly changing opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build new hardware and software systems and applications to open up new markets for AMD
  • Participate in relevant industry forums and research conferences
  • Help to build a collaborative ecosystem across the world, including startups, research institutes, and university groups

 

Preferred Experience:

Doctoral and/or post-doctoral research in one or more of the following areas:

  • blockchain
  • computer architecture
  • computer networking
  • computer security
  • cryptography
  • FPGA applications and tools
  • hardware design

 

Academic credentials:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
