SMTS Board/System Manufacturing Test Architect

The Role:

AMD is looking for a Sr Manufacturing Test Architect for the Alveo and Kris Product lines to drive & shape up next generation architecture & design for PCIE based FPGA Accelerator and Smart Network Interface cards targeted to multiple market segments & applications. The position requires well rounded understating of HW design, HW/FW interoperability, debugging complex system issues and methodology to improve test coverage, yield and throughput in manufacturing.   The position provides a rich learning environment that is highly cross-functional with architecture, design, FW, SW, reliability, and manufacturing and provides for unique leadership opportunities. The position is within the Board Operations XBO Technical Group based in San Jose, CA.


Key Responsibilities:

  • The person will be the operations technical lead for Xilinx Alveo and Kria product lines.
  • Primary responsibility will be to architect Manufacturing test and provisioning methodology for productizing these FPGA based accelerator boards in a fast time to market environment.
  • For new features, this person will be creating tests from scratch and own initial deployment on prototypes. The methodology needs to be designed to scale as it will be adopted by all future products.
  • For existing  tests and provisioning methodology, the role will also involve streamlining existing testing and provisioning methodologies to support best in class production.
  • This will involve overall understanding of the FPGA technology, HW/FW interactions and related issues, board architecture and design, functional and structural test coverage and above all customer needs for the particular board.
  • The person will also be responsible for improving test generation and test execution infrastructure to enable faster time to market and improve test coverage and throughput.
  • Define and drive technical requirements, test strategy - structural & functional test, system level debug, characterization & yield enhancement.
  • Organize & track project issue list, requirements, meeting minutes via conventional (Excel, Power-point etc.), or specific project management tools (JIRA, Microsoft Project etc.) & effectively communicate the rationale for assigned actions to stakeholders & drive for closure


 Preferred Experience:

  • 5+ yrs. of experience in system engineering preferably in various product market areas such as HPC or data center.
  • Experience in system level debug and diagnostics methodologies and tools.
  • Knowledge of Scripting skills – tcl, python, shell.
  • Working knowledge of JTAG Boundary Scan.
  • Use of lab equipment like Oscilloscopes, power supplies etc.
  • Xilinx FPGA and Vivado Experience will be nice but not needed.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams located in different geographies.
  • Willingness to work as an individual and as part of a team to deliver a product which is debug and test friendly starting from spec creation, design, verification, and finally to productization


Academic Credentials:

BS, MS in EE/CE with experience in system engineering preferably in various product market areas such as HPC or data center.
