Sr Technical Manager - Government Programs


The AECG Aerospace and Defense (A&D) vertical marketing team, which is responsible for A&D revenue, profitability and the development of AMD’s A&D leadership strategy and market penetration, is seeking a Sr Technical Manager - Government Programs.

AMD is seeking a Sr Technical Manager - Government Programs with proposal management experience capturing contracts and leading programs developing cutting edge solutions for deployment of AMD current and next generation solutions. The effective candidate will have experience both capturing pursuits and executing the programs vision to reality including program management and proposal development. As a technical manager you’ll be expected to research SBIRs, DARPA & DoD R&D Initiatives, develop technical proposal strategy, schedules, optimize proposal processes, write RFQs, and generate proposal packages ready for submission to government R&D customers.


  • You will support and/or lead the execution of next generation technology programs, build relationships with government, DIB customers and our technical teams
  • Excellent communication and a healthy mix of technical, managerial, business, and soft skills.
  • You will lead small, cross-functional teams executing current contracts, support and lead capture activities including proposals, win strategies, cost estimating approach and analysis, and gate reviews
  • Builds trusted relationships across government organizations at all levels and facilitate the same for others within AMD
  • Identifies and wins new business opportunities for AMD while meeting the needs of assigned government programs
  • Performs live demonstrations of AMD technology, requiring the individual to master the operation of equipment and become a subject matter expert.
  • Support development and execution of annual strategic plan for influence and government funding in support of 5 year business plans
  • Develop and lead the implementation of strategy and marketing plans for expanding our technical capabilities.
  • Conducts competitive assessments to understand strengths and weaknesses of AMD solutions considering competition and provides guidance on next generation product roadmaps
  • Works with Product Line Managers and the Engineering Department to identify technology needs and connect them with funding sources
  • Support marketing efforts by developing collateral, white papers and by working with Solution Architects to properly develop and market technical capabilities.
  • Lead and actively participate in tradeshows, industry events, general government and DIB customer outreach efforts.


  • Desired experience in advanced RF System concepts, multi-dimensional signal processing, space-based sensing systems, and multi-function phased array apertures
  • Technical Master’s Degree and minimum of 15 years of prior relevant experience in Government contracting or research and development (R&D)
  • Work Experience in government, FFRDC, or defense industry companies and sponsors, Proven understanding of Domestic US and global customer requirements/needs/issue
  • Demonstrated success in leading and growing US Navy, Army, AFRL, DARPA opportunities
  • Solid ability to develop, communicate, and document strategic programs and initiatives to stakeholders and executive management alike
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation) & Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work in highly cross-functional and geographically dispersed organization.
  • Must be a strong team player and very self-motivated individual.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
  • Job location can be remote
  • Travel required (~30%)
