Senior Director, Server System Engineering and Global Operations



This team is the central team responsible for technical program management for all aspects of the Server Platform Solutions Engineering functions.   The Lead System Engineer (LSE) for every server product reports into this organization and is responsible for ensuring all post-silicon critical activities are prioritized to ensure on-time product launch with high quality.   All platform program manages report into this role with responsibility for detailed tracking against the end-to-end product life cycle (system map) and ensuring planning/map days are scheduled and all critical milestones have appropriate exit gate reviews / checklists.  The server hardware operations team along with all server system build, delivery, and maintenance responsibilities report into this role along with tight coordination and oversight of server platform supply chain management functions.   Finally, global labs planning and operations as well as our overall R&D forecasting processes are centralized into this role.



  • The leader must collaborate well with cross-company development, manufacturing, and business leads to deliver high quality products at competitive costs and schedule. . Sound and rapid decision-making skills, ability to handle ambiguity, and consistent visible leadership during customer issues is a must.
  • He/she must be capable of leading all aspects of project management associated with server product development, server system deployment, hardware/software integration, lab operations, and hundreds of millions in R&D budget management. 
  • He/she will need to be able to drive Server BU wide processes to ensure high quality and predictable product execution while leading a large direct and even larger matrixed team.
  • A knowledge on server CPU/SoC microarchitecture, system architecture, validation, and product engineering w/ understanding of post- and pre-silicon flows is required.



  • Must partner closely with leaders of hardware/firmware development, silicon validation, product engineering, global operations, and customer engineering functions.
  • A key part of the role is overseeing strategy for post-silicon execution for all server products with a continual improvement focus on quality and time to market.  
  • Individual will have broad responsibilities in how all internal server development vehicles are designed, built, deployed, and maintained.  This includes forming partnerships with key component and other ecosystem partners including contract manufacturers and ODMs.
  • Some of the specific areas reporting into this lead are lead system engineers, platform program managers, hardware system integrators, and global lab operation leaders.
  • The role will involve high level visibility of the most senior leaders inside and outside of the company.
