Director/Fellow Browser Performance Engineering

 

The Role:

We're seeking an experienced engineering leader who will be responsible for collaborative engineering efforts to enhance the performance of Chromium/Chrome/Edge on AMD processors. The role touches various innovation points across algorithms, leveraging SIMD instructions and multi-threading , multi-media engines, GPU compute as well as machine leading to lead a multi-discipline engineering team to success. 

As a leader, you will drive AMD’s relationship with the Google, Microsoft and Mozilla browser engineering teams; grow and manage a team of dedicated engineering resources, oversee projects involving both CPU and GPU technologies, work with internal, external stakeholders and resources to deliver best in class performance, battery life and experiences to all users of AMD processors. You will help the team do their best work by inspiring and instilling a sense of purpose/innovation and removing obstacles that get in the team's way. You will partner with and work across cross-functional teams to ensure engineering efforts are aligned.

 

The Person:

To be successful in this role, you will be a hands-on leader with strong technical, project management and organization skills.  You possess exceptional knowledge, communication and presentation skills and are comfortable working with external customers and internal stakeholders.   Experience in the Browser development is essential and ideally you will also have hands-on experience with the Chromium codebase .  You have outstanding people leadership skills to lead, motivate, and guide world class engineers working in a fast-paced, global environment and drive AMD’s browser strategy.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive AMD’s relationship with Google, Microsoft and Mozilla’s browser teams
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse engineering team
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and execution of multiple projects, ensuring scope and schedule are established for projects; reacts based on changed priorities
  • Drive cross-functional efforts to enhance the browser experience on AMD CPUs and GPUs involving multiple engineering disciplines
  • Work with product and marketing management to ensure alignment
  • Interface with external partners and customers
  • Ensure that AMD maintains a leadership technology position for browser applications
  • Manage employee morale, retention, culture, and performance

Preferred Experience:

  • Broad experience and understanding of the use-cases and needs of browser users and browser based applications
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and leverage high level relationships with partners
  • Track record of delivering innovative projects on time
  • Significant experience working with internal and external stakeholders to drive features and functionality for common goals
  • Experience leading engineering teams to deliver innovation
  • Desire to be hands-on in all phases of design and development

Academic Credentials:

BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
