Fellow, EPYC Customer Firmware Architect

The Role:

AMD's Server Customer Engineering team is looking for a distinguished firmware engineer to partner closely with Cloud, Enterprise and High Performance Computing customers to architect, design, integrate and debug industry-leading firmware solutions into their systems.


The Person:

As a deeply experienced senior firmware engineer with breadth across system and/or chip development, you work across customers and domains and guide system-level server technical execution.


Key Responsibilities:

In this role you will enable server customers across Cloud, Enterprise and High Performance Computing segments to create and deploy best-in-class firmware solutions for their systems. Key domains include silicon and platform initialization, RAS, security, manageability, provisioning, field maintenance and debuggability. Drawing upon your extensive knowledge and experience in firmware architecture, development, and integration into complex systems you will deliver innovative solutions to bridge the gap between customer challenges and product plans. Your track record of accomplishment working with customers at the Principal Engineer level will enable you to prioritize, drive, and influence throughout the organization and externally to deliver groundbreaking results for EPYC customers and AMD’s server business.



Preferred Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in UEFI/BIOS development including architecting, designing, developing, testing, integrating, and debugging firmware for successful high-volume products.
  • Deep knowledge of UEFI and system BIOS architecture, concepts, and development methodology. Broad experience and knowledge across domains including silicon and platform initialization, EDK2, ACPI, RAS, security, manageability, field upgradability, debug, etc. Strong working knowledge of system architecture and design including reset flows, boot process, memory, I/O, x86 instruction set, power management, virtualization and  system management.
  • Proven track record of working with top technology companies to jointly engineer best-in-class products based on new SoCs/CPUs/chipsets.
  • Expert ability to break complex system-level problems down into manageable pieces and drive resolution through design of experiments and data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish credibility with both engineering and leadership counterparts at top technology companies, communicate technical results and positions clearly and accurately, and drive alignment on solutions.
  • Experience leading and directing the work of other domain specialists across engineering disciplines and geographies to deliver excellent results.
  • Strong debug skills with proven track record of debugging complex issues all the way to root cause and delivering quality solutions.
  • Experience developing and delivering customer communications to bring clarity to complex situations.
  • Proven track record of innovation as demonstrated by shipping products


Academic Credentials:

Master's degree in Computer Engineering or related field preferred
