Linux Sys Ops Engineer

 

THE ROLE:

 In the exciting role as a Linux Sys Ops Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for the delivery and operations of IT systems that support and enable AMD RTG’s business process.

This position encompasses hands-on, application environment automation but also collaboratively assist/influence embedded techs/specialists in other groups within the RTG team.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and deploy effective IT tools to improve the efficiency of AMD RTG systems.
  • Day-to-day tactical responsibilities may include: automated patching, config & change management, compliance enforcement, tools Implementation and maintenance.
  • Create a climate and culture of continuous improvement and elegant simple solutions.
  • Establish a Triage model to address Production Issues with cross functional teams and implement with Intermediate Corrective Actions and Permanent Corrective Actions.
  • Flexible travel, up to 30% possible

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: 

  • 10 years proven success in Information Technology (IT)
  • 5+ years experience deploying and supporting Enterprise-grade software and networking solutions

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Stong Linux Administration 
  • Strong technical experience in IT applications Developing and deployment
  • Broad range of enterprise experience with a variety of Infrastructure, cloud applications (SaaS, PaaS and IaaS)
  • Experience with implementing business continuity and disaster recovery programs
  • Excellent partnering and collaboration skills
  • A history of success and learning from past experiences
  • Ability to multi-task in an ever-changing environment
  • Ability to identify and solve problems creatively to ensure satisfactory user experience
  • Excellent Technical acumen and strategic thinking
  • Strong problem analysis and troubleshooting experience working with cross functional teams

Technical Skills:

  • Operating Systems: Linux , Windows
  • Networking: TCP/IP, VPN/IPSec, SSL/TLS and HTTP
  • Databases: SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS, OracleDB (suggested).
  • Scripting Languages and API: Bash, Python, Java, Ruby, REST API
  • Automation and Configuration Mgmt: Ansible, Cloud Formation, Docker, Rancher, Bamboo, Jenkins, Kubernetes.
  • Monitoring and Alerting: Zabbix, Nagios, SCOM, OMS, Servicenow Service Watch
  • Storage: NetApp, SnapVault, SnapMirror, NFS, Azure E3 storage:
  • Virtualization: VMWare ESX, VCenter, VSphere, VMotion, VM Templates.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, business or technical field, or equivalent experience
