MTS Firmware Engineer (GDDR IO)

 

THE ROLE:

We are searching for a senior firmware engineer to join the GDDR PHY design team.  This is an exciting opportunity to be a member of the Memory IO design team responsible for defining, specifying, and implementing firmware for training and control for the next generation of high-speed PAM4 GDDR IP for AMD’s graphics and semi-custom products.

 

THE PERSON:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills along with attention to details
  • Must be a self-starter, able to drive tasks independently and efficiently to completion
  • Strong/effective communication skills
  • Enthusiastic team-first mentality
  • Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers
  • Relevant academic background (M. degree preferred) and at least 8 years’ progressive experience

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with design and modeling teams to develop firmware requirements and algorithms
  • Create firmware specifications to support training, power, and feature control
  • Implement and debug firmware
  • Work with Design Verification team to ensure functional correctness
  • Bring-up, optimization, and debug (working with platform and characterization teams)
  • Recommend improvements, optimization and power saving enhancements
  • Supervise junior firmware engineers

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in digital design from specification to successful silicon
  • Experience with microcontrollers and firmware
  • Experience in high speed interfaces such as DDR, GDDR, HBM, and/or high speed SERDES
  • At least 8 years’ progressive experience in Firmware Design

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Relevant academic background (Master’s degree preferred)
