THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for people to join a multi-disciplinary team developing Machine Learning and High-Performance Computing software stack on the AMD Radeon Open Compute (ROCm) GPU platform (https://github.com/ROCmSoftwarePlatform). You will be responsible for the triage, debug and fix issues across the breadth of ROCm stack and the applications supported. Additionally, you will work with key technical specialists within AMD and with our partners and customers to improve the AMD ROCm software ecosystem.

What we are looking for:

  • Strong programming skills, especially in C/C++
  • Strong understanding of Linux internals, Servers, System-level Debugging and Test Automation Tools
  • Basic knowledge of software development lifecycle, SW practices including debug, test, revision control, documentation, and bug tracking
  • Good interpersonal skills and partnership required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within complementary teams
  • Excellent customer support skills

Key responsibilities:

Demonstrate flexibility, strong motivation and a proven record of meeting aggressive deadlines.

  • Must have validated abilities to seek critical system/software issues, and will be working to engineer AMD’s GPU compute SW stack (ROCm)
  • You will also perform code reviews, building unit tests, authoring detailed documentation related to your work, and working with on-site and off-shore teams to deliver the software solutions on schedule.
  • You will play a key role in all phases of the software development including system requirements analysis, coordinating feature design and development across functional and organization boundaries.

Preferred experience:

  • Confirmed knowledge/experience with Programming (e.g., Python, assembly programming)
  • Familiarity with Machine-Learning (Frameworks, Datasets) and Virtualization (Hypervisors, VMs, Containers)
  • Knowledge of Parallel-Computing, GPUs, and High-Performance-Computing, is a plus
  • Familiarity with deep neural network machine learning technologies and modern machine learning programming frameworks
  • Experience working with and developing virtualization containers and package managers for code deployment
  • Work well with geographically dispersed teams

Academic credentials:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related subjects, or equivalent experience.
