Software Development Engineer : Product Security


The Role:
AMD is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join their Product Security Office team.

You will specifically architect, design and develop certification (FIPS, etc.) related end-to-end testing harness solutions with an understanding and resolution of various design challenges. Solutions will embrace multiple Operating System environments, mainly including Linux and Windows. Components for architecture and design solutions include end-to-end functional layers, from the software application layer, the kernel driver/DLL layer, and then within the security processor firmware. 



The Person:

You will play an integral role with a security centric team of engineers providing architectural, design, and development solutions which define the high-level security roadmap and architecture for AMD products, as well as establish and maintain a technological leadership position in this area.


Our team leads the effort to specify and design supporting hardware and system security capabilities of next generation technologies. You will advise regarding aspects related to future software, firmware, and hardware design elements to help realize ease of future test implementations and provide a path forward to ensure consistent solutions for certification testing across business unit products.



Preferred Skills and Attributes:

  • Application-level coding skills with higher level languages (C, C++, perl, python, etc. for developing testing harnesses and supporting applications)
  • Kernel and driver level design and implementation experience with one or more of OSes and Hypervisors: Windows/Hyper-V, Linux/KVM, as well as other kernels
  • Use of debugging tools for application level, kernel level components
  • Familiarity with typical software/hardware interfaces and driver techniques
  • Knowledge of existing hardware architecture(s) (prefer x86)
  • Familiarity with revision/source control management systems (git, perforce, etc)
  • Comfortable with working on large projects with existing code bases
  • Eagerness and ability to quickly learn new concepts
  • Ability to work in a closely collaborative team environment, as well as independently 

Good to have Skills:

  • Industry Certification standards knowledge - examples including FIPS 140-3/140-2 and/or Common Criteria
  • Knowledge of security principles and properties including confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, authorization, and auditing
  • Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms
  • Understanding of assembly level instruction sets for debugging (AMD64, ARM, or XTensa preferred)
  • Development experience with ukernels and/or RTOSes
  • Simulation and/or Emulation environment experience

Academic Credentials:

  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent (MS preferred)
