PMTS Compute Application Modeling Performance Engineer

 

Team: Performance modeling, estimation and benchmarking for data center platforms/clusters

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop datacenter platform performance models for High Performance Computing (HPC) and Machine Learning (ML) application workloads that provides acceptable simulation speed and accuracy necessary to make product development decisions.
  • Model will consider all key factors that affect application performance for a single node and beyond to multi-node clusters.
  • Gain understanding of HPC and ML workloads through detailed profiling and CPU, GPU and system level performance counters, and develop automation for easy and methodical data collection.
  • Work with application experts to analyze and determine compact, accurate and representative workloads for key applications.
  • Explore new performance modeling methodologies, including the application of Machine Learning to performance prediction.
  • Create kernel level performance metrics to aid in design of future GPU and CPU products.
  • Measure and analyze product performance to identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Validate and adapt performance model with each new generation.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • C/C++ performance and power modeling/simulation of a CPU, GPU or other System-on-Chip (SoC) component
  • In-depth knowledge of performance analysis and modeling techniques, tools and benchmarking
  • Understanding of interactions and data flows between CPUs, GPUs and I/O components
  • Familiarity with processor or SOC design and validation processes and best practices
  • Excellent C, C++, and Scripting (Python, Perl, etc) skills
  • Knowledge of Graphics and Compute APIs - CUDA, OpenCL, Vulkan, etc. a  plus
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning networks and HPC applications a plus

 

Academic Credentials:

Bachelor of Science degree with emphasis in Electrical Engineering, Computer Architecture or Computer Science with relevant experience; OR

Master or PhD with emphasis in Electrical Engineering, Computer Architecture or Computer Science.
