RAS Domain Expert for the Datacenter Graphics

 

The role:

As the RAS Domain Expert for the Datacenter Graphics and Accelerated Computing System Engineering Team, you will manage and drive the system level RAS strategy, including concept level features for HW/SW, execution level RAS validation test plan direction and for products in sustaining, field monitoring including warranty projections. As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s Datacenter GPU strategy, you will be part of a leading team to drive and enhance AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies used for Virtual Desktop, Cloud Gaming, Machine Learning, and High Performance Computing. The team develops and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.

 

The Person:

A successful candidate must be curious, self-driven, collaborative, and a strong team player with technical leadership as well as hands-on experience. The role requires a self-starter with the ability to execute in a matrixed organization and collaborate with others to resolve problems. Must be proactive, and have excellent teamwork, team leadership, communication, and organization skills. You will need to learn as you go and mentor along the way as well.

Preferably the person should understand the general silicon engineering process (preferably GPU, or CPU/APU), from concept to tape-out to production.

 

Key responsibilities:

As a RAS Domain Expert, you will drive the planning, feature definition, validation, and field monitoring to improve RAS hardware and software components of SoC for upcoming AMD products. You will be working with Silicon/IP design teams, key architects, software teams, validation teams, and Field Application Engineers.

  • Develop and champion a system-level RAS feature road map.
  • Define and review end-to-end pre and post-silicon test plans, verification, and validation strategy for a RAS IP.
  • Assist in the debug issues found during pre-silicon, bring-up, validation, and production phases of SOC programs
  • Mentor and spread knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and RAS strategy
  • Drive technical innovation to enhance AMD’s capabilities in RAS IP including tools, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives.
  • Work closely with supporting teams in design, diagnostics, emulation, firmware, and software to ensure readiness for first silicon arrival, enablement of IP functionality, and debug of critical features.
  • Support on customer platforms as requested by Business Unit and customer support teams.
  • Provide meaningful execution and issue update to management.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • A proven history and experience working in Silicon/System hardware RAS
  • Understanding of HW/FW/SW interaction and system-level design
  • Computer hardware and architecture (experience with datacenter servers a plus)
  • RAS IP design and architecture
  • Customer and Partner communication experience
  • Digital logic and High-speed interfaces fault modes and isolation techniques
  • ASIC debug techniques and methodologies
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to independently drive tasks to completion
  • Leadership and mentoring skills a definite asset
  • Graphics experience a plus

 

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering Computer Science or other relevant disciplines.
  • Masters or PhD preferred
