The Role:

DEAE (Datacenter Ecosystems and Application Engineering) is a dynamic, fast-paced team that helps extend this lead by enabling these cutting edge features and exhibiting performance leadership in a wide partner ecosystem.


The DEAE team is looking for a self-driven expert VMware Hypervisor/OS-Kernel Engineer to join our team to enhance AMD’s EPYC Server processor integration with VMware. As an integration engineer working with VMware as a partner, you will be responsible for enabling, validating, debugging, supporting and enhancing the performance of AMD EPYC platforms on VMware’s Hypervisor/Kernel.


The Candidate: 

A successful candidate will employ established VMware’s Hypervisor/Operating System and security concepts, Hardware Subsystem knowledge (such as processors, memory, I/O etc.), technical leadership, horizontal management, and well-honed organization skills across multiple teams and companies to ensure on-time delivery of product goals. Candidates must possess the technical proficiency, seasoned presentation skills, and interpersonal confidence to clearly articulate complex problems and innovative solutions to experienced internal and external audiences.


Key Responsibilities

  • Enable, validate, debug and support the effort of hardware bringup and feature development of AMD EPYC platforms.

  • Enhance code, measure and benchmark the performance of AMD EPYC platforms on VMware’s Hypervisor/Kernel.

  • Identify/test/document best practices for VMware’s Hypervisor/Kernel and AMD EPYC platforms in external publications.

  • Collaborate with AMD and VMware architects, Field Engineers, Partners and Customers to further drive customer adoption of AMD EPYC.

  • Triage issues coming from the field and assist in customer escalations by providing technical guidance.

  • Provide technical mentorship to engineers.

  • Understand and present technical status updates to top management, peers, and engineering teams.

  • Give innovative technical insight to development strategies, priorities, and approaches.


Preferred Experience

  • Deep understanding of VMware’s Hypervisor/Operating System and security concepts

  • Hardware Subsystem knowledge (processors, memory, I/O etc.) and development/validation experience

  • Strong analytical skills and debug methodology expected

  • Strong organization and communication skills with a proven track record of end-to-end project delivery

  • Experience in VMware product stack is preferred


Academic Credentials

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or other relevant field; Master's Degree preferred
