Senior Financial Accountant, Corporate Reporting and Analytics

The role:

The Senior Financial Accountant, Corporate Reporting & Analytics is a highly visible individual contributor position within AMD’s (the Company’s) Corporate Accounting organization. This role is responsible for various financial reporting and accounting processes. You will prepare financial information to ensure that they are of the highest quality. You will perform tactical, operational, and financial analysis for financial reporting and utilize data visualization to provide better visibility into financial data to develop insights to enable leadership to make decisions effectively and efficiently. We will challenge the status quo to optimize existing processes to improve the efficiency, completeness, and accuracy of the information for reporting and decision-making. You will also review complex accounting matters and provide accounting research recommendations as part of the financial close process. Other than the CFO organization, we partner closely with Investor Relations, Corporate Communications, and Legal on reporting needs and requirements. We will also participate in cross-functional projects that are highly visible to the executives. Working across the entire business, you will have the opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of functions across AMD! This position will report directly to the Accounting Director, Corporate Reporting & Analytics.

The person:

We are looking for candidates with a mix of public accounting and industry experience and a CPA certification, with a positive work ethic towards accounting and financial reporting. Ideal candidates must have great attention to detail with strong analytical and communication skills and be critical problem solvers in a fast-paced environment. The candidate should be willing to challenge the status quo to identify and drive process improvement to enhance the quality, speed, and scalability of the financial reporting process. The candidate should be proactive with an execution-focused mindset, excellent project management skills, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities; someone who can function in ambiguity and uses creativity to combat challenges.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare and/or review internal financial reporting to executives and board of directors
  • Close collaboration with the External Financial Reporting team and non-finance team on external financial reporting requirements, including the quarterly earnings release, financial analyst days, Form 10K/Q, etc.
  • Perform analysis for internal and external reporting and provide insights to assist leadership with decision making, and diagnose and troubleshoot data discrepancies and errors
  • Support automation and build-out of customized analytic reports for financial and operational reporting
  • Work in partnership with the Finance and IT partners to improve the efficiency of analysis while maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial data
  • Actively participate in quarterly financial close to review significant and complex accounting matters in compliance with US GAAP
  • Participate in various cross-functional projects

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Business Analytics a plus
  • Experience in Auditing/Accounting/Finance; experience in business analytics or financial planning & analysis a plus
  • CPA/CA or equivalent required
  • Big 4 or national public accounting experience preferred
  • Public company experience preferred
  • Strong US GAAP experience and solid knowledge of SEC requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience with data visualization tools a plus
  • SAP experience is a plus
