Senior Manager SerDes Firmware & Modeling


Firmware and link modeling is becoming very critical to the development of groundbreaking SerDes. For this position, AMD SerDes team is looking for a hardworking and experienced Senior Manager to grow and lead a team of engineers dedicated to Firmware and Modeling for high-speed serial interfaces. This high-visibility role provides ample opportunities to contribute to and influence the development of state-of-the-art serial interfaces for the whole AMD palette of products. Daily interactions with architecture, analog design, digital design, lab test and characterization teams offer opportunities for growth both on the technical as well as management side.

The Person:

  • A consistent record of leading Firmware and/or Modeling teams for High-Speed SerDes
  • A proven track record of successful developments of Firmware and/or Models for High-Speed Serdes
  • Strong, effective communication and leadership skills
  • Enthusiastic team-first mentality
  • Solid knowledge of industry-standard tools and outstanding practices for Firmware and Modeling development
  • Experience with high-speed SerDes signaling/equalization techniques, equalization/adaptation/calibration algorithms and signal integrity
  • Analytical thinking and inventive spirit in combination with a proven understanding of risks and risk mitigation



  • Lead and develop a team of Firmware and Modeling engineers, including among others: tasks assignments and progress tracking, schedule and priority management, performance review, mentor, talent development, and hiring.
  • End-to-end ownership of Firmware development, from concept phase to post-silicon optimization
  • Development of tools and methodology for the effective modeling of high-speed Serdes PHYs.
  • Contribute to the definition of microarchitecture and algorithms for the implementation of various state-of-the-art, high-speed (64Gbps+) SerDes PHYs
  • Work closely with various fields (e.g. Analog Design, Digital Design, Architecture and Design Verification) across different geographies and time zones, to ensure successful cross-team engagement and high-quality execution
  • Ensure quality of work you're doing within schedule and mitigate overall risk
  • Participate and contribute to the definition of flows that improve efficiency and quality of execution



  • MS + 8 years, or PhD + ~4 years of proven experience in electrical engineering or computer science.
