 Performance Architect

 

The Role:

 

Join a team of application engineers who enjoy performance characterization, tuning and optimization of software applications for server platforms. You’ll work on industry-leading server platforms from leading OEMs for on-prem deployments and leading cloud platforms. You’ll work on top-tier benchmarks (for example: SPEC, STAC and TPC) as well as with leading ISVs on optimizing complex, distributed software applications across multiple industry verticals (for example, among others: databases, telecom, big-data, analytics, financial services, media, entertainment).


The Person:


Are you passionate about extracting maximum performance for workloads by tuning configurations and optimizing code? Are you bothered by wasted system resources (compute, memory, IO)? Do you want to set and publish world records for benchmarks? Do you enjoy using your strong communication skills to write technical documents for others to use? Then, you’ll fit right in!


Key Responsibilities:


•    Set up an application or benchmark on one or more server systems
•    Collect and analyze data; characterize application’s runtime to identify performance hotspots
•    Use specialized tools on AMD EPYC platforms to collect telemetry data 
•    Conduct architectural analysis to assist SW developers with workload placement and configuration
•    Develop mitigation strategies to overcome those performance hotspots
•    Work with ISVs to implement and test these changes
•    Publish methodologies used and results obtained via tuning guides, white-papers, and technical presentations at conferences


Preferred Experience:


•    Knowledge of performance analysis tools for Linux/Windows/virtualized environments including specialized tools for AMD and Intel platforms
•    Working experience with perf and other collection and analysis tools
•    Familiarity with distributed frameworks such as Apache Hadoop/Spark 
•    Knowledge of standards and specifications for one or more industry verticals


Academic Credentials:

 

•    4-year engineering degree (CS/EE) preferred
