Software Researcher in Memory Performance Optimization

The Role:

AMD Research is an entrepreneurial research organization with a strong track record of driving research innovations into AMD products. We are a global leader in the development of the world’s most advanced high-performance computers (HPC), such as El Capitan, the world-leading 2 exaflop supercomputer.   We are looking for a software researcher to invent, design and implement operating system support for novel accelerator platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Design and implement software stack support for novel hardware accelerators and optimizing real-world applications on cutting-edge hardware platforms.
  • Develop operating system support for emerging accelerator architectures.
  • Prototype software solutions in AMD’s open source ROCm stack and other software frameworks.
  • Collaborate with teams within AMD Research, product groups, and vendor partners to help improve the AMD HPC ecosystem.
  • Communicate with key internal and external partners.
  • Write reports and research publications.
  • Drive the results of the research projects into product roadmaps.
  • Submit patentable inventions.

Preferred Experience:

 

  • Extensive experience with operating systems, kernel or driver development.
  • Proven experience with parallel programming on CPUs and GPUs.
  • Background in memory architectures and memory allocation management at the OS level.
  • History of issued patents that are embodied in successful products.
  • Experience collaborating in a geographically distributed team (AMD Research has sites across North America).

Additional experience desired:

  • Programming Languages: C++, C and proficient in object-oriented design & development.
  • Industry experience in software version control, engineering methods and practices.

Academic Credentials:

PhD degree or equivalent accomplishments in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field.
