GPU Radeon Performance/Power Internship

THE ROLE:

A great opportunity for an internship with AMD’s GPU Radeon Performance & Power Group, working with bleeding-edge technologies to deliver high performance and low power solutions on a range of products. The internship duration is 3 months minimum. The intern will work closely with GPU engineers focusing on architectural & firmware level perf/power optimization techniques. Role will focus on data management, processing and mining techniques, data analysis, automation, and helping with R&D operations.

 

THE PERSON:

A highly motivated individual with proven engineering skills, eager to contribute, and with strong collaboration and communication skills. This is for MSc or PhD level students looking to get experience in AMD’s GPU design and perf/power optimization technologies and grow their career in the industry.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work within the GPU performance & power optimization group on performance and perf-per-watt optimization initiatives. This includes collecting, processing, and analyzing data, developing toolchain and automation, identifying new opportunities, prototyping, and on-silicon performance and power measurements.
  • Collaborate with system architects and designers to define and prototype performance and power optimization mechanisms.
  • Correlate performance/power models.  
  • Perform post-silicon debugging.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge in computer architecture (SoC) and understanding of performance & power management and optimization techniques.
  • Good knowledge and experience (courses/projects) in data management and data science (data collection, storage, analysis, interfaces, data mining, regressions, statistics, machine learning)
  • C++ and scripting programming skills (e.g., Python)
  • Familiarity with hardware-firmware stack.    
  • Knowledge in Graphics pipeline architecture is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, well organized, and self-driven.
  • Excellent communication skills.

 

EDUCATION:

  • Major in EE, CS or related, currently in a Master’s or PhD program.
