Systems Engineer

 

THE ROLE:

We are searching for a senior system engineer to join our PHY team developing high speed links (>32Gbps, PAM4) for Graphics and other future technologies. The role is to understand the system limitations and architect solutions for the PHY with best PPA trade-off. The role involves developing system models in Matlab or other equivalent environment to help provide architectural trade-offs, propose equalizer solutions, adaptation schemes, etc.

 

THE PERSON:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Excellent understanding of S-parameters, Channel response, Equalizer trade-offs.
  • Experience with implementing various adaptation algorithms in Matlab, Python, etc.
  • Good understanding of various analog impairments (distortion, noise, jitter etc.)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills along with attention to details
  • Must be a self-starter, able to drive tasks independently and efficiently to completion
  • Strong/effective communication skills
  • Enthusiastic team-first mentality
  • Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers
  • Relevant academic background (M. degree preferred) and at least 10 years’ progressive experience

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement and maintain system model for link budgeting and analysis
  • Work with both analog engineers to model critical aspects of PHY
  • Work with RTL, Verification engineers to ensure proper implementation of algorithms  
  • Deliver detailed micro-architecture specifications & documentation
  • Support silicon bring-up and diagnostics

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Implementation of system model in Matlab/Python to understand system trade-offs and Channel Trade offs
  • Develop Link budgets and drive trade-off analysis for PHY specifications
  • Implementing algorithms in firmware, and post silicon bring up efforts
  • At least 5 years’ progressive experience in high speed Links
  • Understanding of error correction codes, schemes
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments, Matlab, C, Python

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Relevant academic background (Master’s degree preferred)
