QA Engineer

THE ROLE:

AMD Advanced Technology Group is an entrepreneurial research and development team to build AMD's future advanced platforms & products. Our teams work closely with outside customers and internal teams to develop hardware, software, and systems solutions into next generation computing platforms. In this position you will be working as a member of a high-performing team, which will have you working with teams across multiple sites.

 

THE PERSON:

AMD is seeking a talented Quality Engineer to join our Advanced Technologies Group.  The role requires a high degree of drive and communication skills to ensure the team follows through on the delivery of committed requirements ensuring an amazing customer experience.  The right candidate must be adept in clarifying requirements, and ensuring those requirements are met.

The successful candidate will provide hands on technical contribution in the CQE/QA team and will create and execute both automated and manual tests.  They must also advance the automation infrastructure. They must have a keen eye and interest in visual quality and set high expectations for our product.  They must be meticulous in their daily work, have strong communication skills and be steadfast in their beliefs on quality.  They will work with developers and QA personnel effectively across organizations within and outside of AMD.  As one of the main users of the lab in SC, they will ensure the lab is setup and maintained properly.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with PM's and engineering teams to review and vet requirements
  • Work closely with engineering teams to design, review, develop, execute, and expand test cases and coverage. 
  • Develop and execute automated test cases
  • Perform visual testing against defined pass/fail criteria as well as subjective pass/fail criteria
  • Contribute to the design, implementation of a test infrastructure which may require the development or integration of disparate tools
  • Actively assist in the evolution of formal QA processes, to ensure that the team is using industry-accepted best practices
  • Contribute to the team efforts of quality assurance including establishing metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met
  • Understand AMD & 3rd party IPs to ensure quality of services and user experiences
  • Assist in sourcing vendor quotes for lab equipment
  • Manage and track new HW board and parts inventory and assignment
  • Assemble equipment and setup the lab (equipment, layout etc)

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency in Testing: Agile, Mobile, Usability, Power, Performance, KPI, Benchmarks, Security
  • 5+ Years of embedded software development and quality assurance experiences in international companies and fast paced projects
  • Experience in testing Camara, Video and Image Quality preferred
  • Experience with testing Computer Vision, AI and ML technologies preferred
  • Excellent C/C++, Python, bash, and scripting fundamentals
  • Experience in test automation design, implementation, and scripting
  • Experience in setting up of host systems
  • Able to build tools from scratch when needed
  • Experience in contributing to and improving good management practices including equipment tracking
  • Ability to quickly learn new and existing technologies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or a related technical discipline

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • BSEE (or equivalent), MSEE (or equivalent) preferred
