Performance Engineer, GPU Virtualization

Our team elevates AMD's data center GPU products by exposing and demonstrating the unique performance features of our Visual Cloud GPU products. We are seeking an engineer to join our team that will thrive in a fast-paced work environment, using strong communication, problem solving and prioritization skills. Individuals that are well organized, show great attention to detail and employ critical thinking are well-suited for our team.

Day to day duties:

  • Establish performance suite and best practices for measuring virtualized GPU workloads, especially for DaaS, WaaS, and Cloud Gaming
  • Own Visual Cloud GPU performance and market competitiveness for use in product development and product marketing
  • Study, evaluate and share, not only GPU performance but other system variables that impact performance -- CPU, RAM, OS, drivers, etc.
  • Configure hardware and software, run experiments, and most importantly, analyze the data to visualize and share
  • Master, improve and innovate upon existing tools and processes for monitoring and measuring application performance
  • Identify performance issues that impact virtualized and cloud-based workloads, and partner with other teams to find solutions

 

What we need to see:

  • B.S./M.S. degree in Computer Science with 3+ years of relevant experience in benchmarking, performance, systems engineering
  • You are considered the go-to person for cloud and virtualized environments
  • Experience in a position that includes performance analysis of computer systems
  • Deep knowledge and strong hands-on experience with virtualization technologies - Citrix Hypervisor / XenServer, VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V or Linux KVM
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems as well as computer architecture, including BIOS, drivers, CPU, memory, storage, and graphics
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and oral

 

Ways to stand out from the crowd:
 

  • You have a passion and expertise in virtualization, especially with professional applications (i.e. CAD apps) or games
  • Experienced with GPU virtualization with either AMD Radeon Pro or Nvidia utilizing GRID
  • Experience working in a public cloud environment - Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, Google Cloud
  • You have a passion for working with large datasets and techniques for data visualization to enhance our sophisticated in-house tools
  • Working knowledge of relevant programming languages, tools, APIs including Javascript, Node.js, Python, NoSQL, sh/batch scripting. Familiarity with React (UI), D3 (Visualization), and debugging tools a plus.
