Visual Cloud Performance Engineer - Data Center Virtualization

Our team helps market AMD's data center GPU products by exposing and demonstrating the unique performance features of our visual cloud GPU products. We are seeking an engineer to join our team that will thrive in a fast-paced work environment, using strong communication, problem solving and prioritization skills. Individuals that are well organized, show great attention to detail and employ critical thinking are well-suited for our team.

We are seeking a unique individual that has the background to manage both virtualized server configuration and developing benchmark and automation tools.

Day to day duties:

  • Set up server hardware, run experiments, and analyze the data to prepare reports and charts to visualize the results
  • Work with product management and product marketing teams to help characterize GPU product performance and market competitiveness
  • Study and evaluate not only GPU performance, but other system variables that impact performance -- CPU, RAM, OS, drivers, etc.
  • Collaborate with other team members to maintain and further develop tools to run and monitor performance benchmarks, results collection, data analysis and visualization
  • Identify performance issues that impact cloud-based workloads, and partner with other teams to find potential solutions


What we need to see:

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • You have a passion and an expertise in virtualization
  • 3 years’ experience in a position that included performance analysis of computer systems
  • Experienced with virtualization and have a background with building virtual machines and hypervisors (Citrix, VMware or KVM)
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems as well as computer architecture, including BIOS, drivers, CPU, memory, storage, and graphics
  • Working knowledge of relevant programming languages, tools, APIs including Javascript, Node.js, Python, NoSQL, sh/batch scripting. Familiarity with React (UI), D3 (Visualization), and debugging tools a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and oral
