THE ROLE:

The Product Solutions Team is uniquely positioned between the business units defining AMD’s graphics products, and product testing teams. Primary team objectives include reviewing, defining, and validating the experiences that our customers have while interacting with our products, and supporting the end-to-end product lifecycle from definition through product retirement. Additionally, the team identifies key pain points in the existing user experience, and drives targeted improvements in those areas.

 

We are looking for a talented manager who is passionate about user experiences, software quality and problem solving!

 

In the role, you will be managing a team of Software validation and debug engineers working on one of the largest, most complex, and fastest-moving codebases in the industry. You will be the team representative in China responsible for strategy and execution of the validation function and define and promote a quality mindset across the organization. You will collaborate and foster relationships with cross-organizational leadership for planning and delivery of high-quality, feature-rich products and features on schedule. 

 

You will be the local representation for a global team of over 200 people – responsible in leading the team in validating features and technologies, and driving overall improvements to the user experience for AMD’s graphics products

You have an in-depth understanding of product architecture and its requirements. You are innovative, and can analyze, communicate and drive the “big picture” throughout the global function. You are critical thinking in your approach, and are always striving towards continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and build a team of up to 15 validation and debug engineers
  • Create a workplace environment that is rewarding, productive, exciting and facilitates learning
    Develop and execute a strategic quality plan and influence the team to embrace improvement initiatives to both improve graphics driver quality and end-user/customer experience
  • Work with various SW development and test functional teams to create test plans and a support approach unique to the team’s function
  • Co-ordinate with different AMD sites for SW development, testing, and improvement

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • Minimum experience of 10 years overall of which 4-5 years in management role
  • Proven experience managing and leading engineering teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills
  • Strong system and software engineering background ranging from application level to BIOS and below
  • Strong communications skills. Able to summarize complex problems for executives as well as drill down to details with architects and engineers
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills including the ability to analyze current behavior, identify potential areas for improvement and design of experiments
  • Must be a self-starter and self-motivated
