System Design Engineer



The platform SMU team is part PPA team, responsible for discrete GPU product include post-silicon phase and mass production phase.


Job responsibilities for this position include SMU IP bring-up for new product introduction (NPI), SMU firmware design and debug with ASIC design/board design/VBIOS/SW driver/Diag etc. Developing test plan, guide test engineer to execute, feature enablement and issue debug, and also customer support.

  • Coordinate closely with peers & seniors to ensure timely and effective communication of all assigned work activities
  • A self-starter required and able to deal with a high level of ambiguity
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Good knowledge of both written and spoken English
  • Able to work under high pressure and time limitation



  • Develop and debug SMU firmware for discrete GPU product on Windows, Linux and Mac OS
  • Work closely with SMU IP design team to bring up SMU IP
  • Work to enable SMU feature, optimize performance and improve reliability
  • Lead SMU test engineer to define SMU IP test plan for post-silicon
  • Co-work with geographically distributed engineering teams on code development and review
  • Drive relative engineering teams to debug issue



  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with FW/BIOS development or ASIC design verification
  • Experience in industry standard - SPI/I2C/SMBUS/USB/PCIE is a big plus
  • Power/Thermal management experience is an asset
  • Good knowledge of debugging skill with test equipment (oscilloscope, Power supplier, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with ASIC bring up is a plus
  • Knowledge of PC architecture include GPUs, CPUs, Motherboard and Servers is a plus
  • Good understanding of schematic / PCB layout
  • Good knowledge of C/C++ programming
  • Familiar with code management system such as Git, SVN, etc.
  • Familiar with Window/Linux environment



  • B.S. or M.S. In EE or CS with at least 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent
