MTS System Design Engineer(PPO)

 

THE ROLE:

AMD Graphic Platform engineering PPO team is seeking an experienced engineer to lead the Power/Performance analysis and optimization for dGPU. PPO team is responsible to ASIC bring up for power and performance, feature enablement and optimization, issue debug, power and performance optimized and customer support.

 

 

THE PERSON:

 Activity attitude, clear analytical thinking, strong ability to learn new knowledge, strong ability to resolve complex problem.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead dGPU project on post-silicon power and performance domain end to end. 
  • Develop power and performance test plan for the new project.
  • Support GFX/PCIE/MALL/UMC/MEM/USB etc IP design team to define the power and performance validation test plan of each IP on post-silicon.
  • Lead ASIC/ IP power and performance feature validation and delivery on time.
  • Power and Performance optimize for dGPU products especially for the new power feature to improve the Performance Per Watt.
  • Develop the test script and execute Power & Performance testing with automation test environment.
  • Co-work with design team (SOC, IPs owner, Power Arch) to analyze the pre-silicon data vs post-silicon data, to improve accuracy of pre-silicon.
  • Build the power modeling for the project and improve the model for next generation.
  • Drive cross function team to debug and troubleshooting system level issues on power and performance domain.
  • Support the SoC designer and power architecture to do some prototype.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Candidate must have working knowledge of CPU, GPU or complex SoC, familiar with the system architectures
  • Knowledge in power and performance in the whole system or IP level.
  • Knowledge in BIOS, device driver, application software, benchmark software, and low-level diagnostic script is preferred.
  • Experience with languages: Python, Perl, Ruby, C/C++
  • Hands-on lab experience with a focus on power and performance analysis, Perf/Watt optimized, any one of ASIC bring up, graphics, power management, PCI-E, and DDR/GDDR memories is a plus
  • Familiar with schematic / PCB layout
  • Strong leadership for issue debug and program driving
  • Excellent verbal communication and written, presentation skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced matrixed technical organization and multi-site environment

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • An Electrical/Computer Engineering Bachelor's degree plus 8 years, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • A Master's degree plus 5 years of experience is acceptable
