TEST ENGINEER

THE ROLE:

Test Engineering is a cost, quality, and time-to-market driven team responsible for enabling the availability of microprocessors to our customers. Pre-silicon responsibilities for the Engineer include understanding product features, developing Test Plans, highlighting test coverage holes, and developing software and hardware infrastructure to execute those plans. This requires interaction with Design and Platform Engineering and allows for the opportunity to provide test improvement feedback for future designs. Post-silicon responsibilities include microprocessor test content development and validation, test program optimization, debug & analysis. This may include Test pattern issues, silicon performance issues, yield issues, manufacturing processes, and device marginalities. The Engineer will work closely with respective teams to identify root cause issues that result from the debug, characterization and margin analysis. The Engineer will also provide datasheets specifications and drive improvements in yield and be responsible for driving test time improvements.

 

THE PERSON:

The position includes test planning, Test Program development, characterization, data analysis, and silicon debug of leading-edge process technologies. Applicant should be familiar with modern microprocessor architecture. Knowledge of testing techniques, failure mechanisms, and debug processes are a plus. Good coding skills preferred.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Early engagement in pre and post silicon phases, including test development, bring-up, flow integration, and hardware qualification
  • Test program development for high volume production
  • Support Characterize new silicon designs and process technologies
  • Identify test, yield, and quality improvement opportunities, and drive test strategy innovation to deliver Key Performance Indicators (Test time, Yield, First Time Right) across products
  • Conduct engineering evaluations and analysis to drive closure of production issues
  • Interface between AMD and OSAT for test program implementation and resolution of operation issues
  • Develop and apply debug techniques to improve technical depth in Product Engineering.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Entry level candidates are welcome to apply.
  • Intermediate programming skills in at least one of the following languages: C, C++, Java, Python, Ruby
  • Proficiency in Windows, Unix, and Linux operating systems
  • Modern computer architecture knowledge
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • BS/MS Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or comparable disciplines
