Software Development Eng.

 

THE ROLE:

Software development engineer on teams building and optimizing math libraries to enable high performance computing and machine learning workloads for AMD GPU compute platforms.

 

THE PERSON:

Strong technical and analytical skills in a Linux environment and with excellent programming skills. Familiar with CPU/GPU architecture. Ability to work as part of a team, while also being able to work independently, define goals and scope and lead your own development effort

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, implement and optimize GPU algorithms for math libraries (linear algebra, discrete Fourier transforms, and computing and communication primitives) which will be used for deep learning and HPC applications
  • Benchmark, profile and optimize code to improve efficiency on AMD GPU
  • Deliver high-quality code and documentation following standard methodologies for open source software development
  • Work with key technical specialists across AMD and with our partners and customers to improve ROCm applications, libraries, and tools

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong background developing applications and libraries in C/C++ and parallel programming
  • Understanding of CPU and/or GPU architectures and low-level optimization techniques including assembly programming
  • GPU software development using HIP, CUDA, OpenCL
  • Analysis and solution of numerical problems typically found in machine learning and scientific computing applications
  • In-depth knowledge of best-practices in software development, including testing, profiling, debugging, documentation, version control, issue tracking, and planning

 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • B.Sc. or B.Eng. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent
  • Advanced degrees, such as M.Sc., M.Eng., Ph.D. are preferred.
