Sr. Manager Firmware Engineering

 

THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, experienced Firmware Engineering Manager to lead the Server platform engineering team to work with internal development teams for AMD’s cutting-edge data center products. This individual will work with the AMD internal hardware development, firmware/BIOS, and system validation team to assist and address issues reported by customers. This includes enabling partners with critical knowledge of AMD technologies and platforms, review customer platform design to drive the best design practices, and successfully scale AMD business. The successful candidate must have comprehensive knowledge of x86 architecture and relative domain knowledges. The candidate must be highly motivated, innovative, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. He or she must be able to quickly analyze different scenarios to come up with the best approach to tackle tough problems.

 

THE PERSON:

  • Product development experiences with strong knowledge in the following fields: PC/Server architecture, x86 processors, DDR, PCIE, and system management
  • Demonstrated ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly.
  • Ability to influence horizontally across multiple internal functional organizations.
  • Excellent analytical, project planning, and management skills.
  • Proven track record to deliver large multi-functional critical initiatives.
  • Quickly adapt to dynamic business and technical requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the team to work with multi-functional teams to design, develop and validate EPYC customer platforms based on AMD solutions.
  • Work with global function teams to enable development of AMD server platforms by augmenting customer solutions with technical collateral, such as application note documentation, user guide on customization and tuning, sample and reference design materials, and debugging/profiling tools.
  • Enhance platform AGESA documents and customer training material to improve overall customer design skills
  • Analytic ability to address technical issues and generate creative solutions
  • Engage directly on key technical topics and issues with partners and internal teams, and steer of multi-party discussion to convergence
  • Develop customer-specific solutions with full product cycle technical support, feasibility verification, and project management throughout the entire development process
  • Align with cross function teams with emphasis on driving technical enablement/communications, technical support, and debug/issue resolution
  • Coordinate timely delivery of all engineering project into customer development projects
  • Drive for highest levels of customer happiness

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in the computing industry, at the OEM, ODM, or technology provider level
  • Experience team managing and delivering programs
  • Experience in team building across multiple geos

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

BS or MS in CS (or relative engineering fields)
